Welcome to the second week of blogtober! You’re not feeling the Monday blues, right? That awful unrealistic fever that doesn’t allow you to get out of the bed ready to rule the day. Just in case and for those who got hit by it out of nowhere, I want to share some of my favourite tips for avoiding it!
Why do you feel the Monday blues?
So, according to scientists, when you turn off the alarm clock on Mondays, you set your body clock off by 45 minutes. Instead of feeling like having a “slow morning”, you wake up unmotivated and want to sleep more. Especially when you’re a mompreneur, busy as hell, joggling between the usual daily duties and your business.
Monday blues means that you are not ready or does not want or feel to be ready to start a workweek yet. Maybe your career doesn’t feel right for you or your todo list is too big. You’re lazy, unmotivated and want to rest more. But, Monday blues brings no good. Here’s what to do to ease the drama!
Be ahead of the game.
Starting your week on Sunday could be the real game-changer if you just get up earlier. Did you know that many people who feel unmotivated when the start of the week approaches turn off their alarm clock on the weekend days?
I’m guilty of that too, but every time I get up to do some work, read a book, plan my week or finish some house chores before everything else, I feel like I’m ahead of the game. And relax more throughout the weekend without scrolling through all the todos in my head and not being fully present.
Plan your workweek.
In my previous life (some months ago), I neglected the power of planning. Although I was passionate about that, I was never doing it right. Then, the first day of the new week, I was in clouds wondering what to do first. The second and third day, I was kinda feeling it but still lazy to move. Thursday was ok and Friday was feeling like “friyay”!
Ever since I started planning what I must do each day, my business started to grow. I separate my blogging tasks into five-year goals, yearly goals, seasonally goals + monthly, weekly and daily schedule. Each day of the week has its own purpose which helps me not lose my focus.

House chores planning.
Not only does meal planning spear your time, but it also saves your $$$ because you only buy what you need. Usually, I plan for the two-three weeks ahead and it makes my life easier. I’m not scrolling through quick recipes on Pinterest and running off to the supermarket when I should be spending quality time with my family.
Just like planning my working hours, I focus on doing other house chores on specific days of the week as well. Ironing on Tuesdays, wiping floors on Fridays and so on. Of course, you don’t want to fall into a boring routine and you should sleep on Sundays when it feels right, but work on your ways to organize.
My favourite planners:
Rest well and self-care more.
When sudden interruptions hit a pause on a project, what’s the first thing you decide to set aside so that you can have time for “something bigger”? Do you sacrifice your family, friends and alone time and then feel overwhelmed and unproductive? But, that sacrifice doesn’t help you kill the burnout. And you know it.
Self-care, relaxing and a good night sleep should be your priority over the whole week. Do you know who’s more likely to suffer from the Monday blues? Those who neglect the power of self-care and sleep 4 hours per night, of course.
Get ready.
Now that we’ve already talked about the big importance of planning and scheduling your days, there’s a similar thing not to forget about. Get everyone’s clothes, breakfast and other necessities ready for the Monday morning too.
Make sure your kid’s backpack is ready, clothes await and all the lunch/breakfast boxes are ready. Running around the house trying to pick the dress up combination for the day, packing lunch and trying to catch a breath is so overwhelming.
My son likes to read in the morning before he leaves the house, so I’d rather spend that time reading to him or watching the two of them read. What this means for me: I took the puppy out and fed her, I did my morning skincare, the pre-made breakfast is on the table and everything else is good-to-go.
Overscheduling – what was that, again?
A big NO – that’s what it is. I’ve met many people who always say the saying “I hate Mondays”. When I asked them why, they say “Mondays are the busiest” but they actually have the choices, most of them. They don’t need to wait in lines in the bank that exact day and they don’t need to book the hairstylist or go shopping.
Whenever you have a chance, don’t put everything on your Monday list. Sure, there’s not a chance every time, but always try to do better instead of doing more.
Fuel yourself.
I like to drink green when I go for a walk with a puppy at 6 AM and then enjoy breakfast at around 7 AM with a family. Between 10 AM and 11 AM (depends on whether I’ll take a nap or not), when my workday starts, I drink coffee and have a snack at noon (because we have lunch at 3 PM when my boys come home). You can read my daily schedule here.
Always make sure to fuel your mind and body with food and caffeine, if you consume caffeine. Otherwise, you know what happens: Monday blues with a headache, low energy and you not feeling productive and happy. If you like exercising in the mornings, then don’t skip that too!
Some of our favourite breakfast ideas: oatmeal with fruit and dark chocolate, eggs and kefir with seeds (chia, sunflower, pumpkin seeds and flax seeds with cinnamon), banana bread with herbal tea or a protein smoothie and cookies.
Inspire yourself & motivate others!
Don’t let it stand in front of your passions and the best day that you should be having. Dress yourself for success and inspire others (and don’t forget to pin me:). Happy Monday!
