When I first found out that I’ll be having a boy, I was 21 years old college student (we found out that we were pregnant as soon as we got back from our honeymoon trip – perfect). At that time, I never stopped to analyze the “mom and son” bond time and how good moms can be in raising boys.
Now that we’ve reached 4, and he doesn’t express separation anxiety when leaving me but can show affection whenever he wants and needs, I know I did right in raising him. Of course, we did go through the anxiety stage when he was adapting to kindergarten for the first time, but that was normal. He only felt discomfort being alone in the world for the first time.
Anyways, mom and son bond time is important for many reasons. A healthy relationship with the first woman of their life will teach them how to treat girls correctly and don’t be afraid of them. Your unconditional love and approval will boost their confidence, but your being overprotective might just do the opposite. Be aware of the fine line!

Be the fun and carrying mom that is ready to let go.
Quality time you spend together stays memorable throughout life. Once the time comes for your son to grab life on his own, the memories you bring effort into will follow him.
He’ll be proud of you for creating the healthy mom and son bond, following his passions by being present and role-modelling the idea of women. All the ideas mentioned above, except for the corn maze, are those that my kid and I enjoy and have already done together!
Hope that you find something you two can do together (of course, a lot of these ideas can be fun for girls too)! Let me know if you have any ideas to share, and don’t forget to spread the word to the world! 🙂
