You won’t only organize toys when they first arrive at your house. You’ll have to organize toys a lot longer than that. Your baby’s first toy and your baby’s other toys people bought for your baby. Then those that are no longer in use (because they became boring to a moody 1-year-old). New toys after every birthday, Christmas Eve, New Year’s night. New toys after your foreign cousins visit your kid (and, basically, after every usual visit to your kid). Even those from Kinder egg might be a huge problem!
If you get my point (and I hope you do), you’ll have to deal with a lot of playing tools. Before the age of three, you should go for “the less, the better” rule. Young toddlers have no idea how to play alone and they might feel overstressed for having to choose between too many things. Plus, it’s better to give them two to three and then change in three days (in order to avoid boredom).

Organize toys with this ONE product
At first, we kept them in a big box. But it got too uncomfortable for everybody. That was the time our son played with two toys only, but still, too uncomfortable to pick them up from the box.
Soon, we agreed on this Ikea Trofast storage combination. It is a set of a frame which you can find in more than one shape and small/big boxes which you can find in different colours.
We picked this one that looks like stairs and six small white boxes + three big black boxes.
Easy to set up, easy to clean the dust (and everything), modern/minimalist looking and so practical! I put those I thought he might like playing with the same night we got the storage stairs and set it up. What seemed overage, I packed and put in an empty closet in a room we don’t use that much.
How do we exactly organize toys?
We put those toys that he only played with at that time in the bottom boxes, so he could easily pick them any time. It stayed that way even know, but he has access to almost any box now that he got bigger. Except for the white one at the top and the black one at the top because it’s big and hard.
In that white box at the very top, I put a volcano set and a rainbow art set. The second two white boxes below we filled with small toys he sometimes plays with. His train set is in the fourth box. Usually, our little one enjoys playing with this set once or twice per day so it’s good to have it close. The box below contains educative toys that work with batteries. I filled the other two black boxes with wooden educative toys (like the alphabet, numbers) and car toys. And the last two are music box and art box.
General tips & rules
Babies don’t know how to use anything, especially toys. So they need only ONE soft toy.
Before they turn two/three (depending on the child), they play with two-three toys ONLY. Too many toys at that age might make them feel overstressed because they would have to make too many decisions in choosing toys every day.
Also, children before two years old get bored easily. The best is to give them two-three toys and replace them after some time.
Usually, at the age of three, they get a bit more creative. They learn how to play alone and how to combine and use different toys at the same time.
Anyhow, you should never buy TOO MUCH because you don’t want to spoil the little human.
Always pick up toys together, no matter how much interest you child shows and how well he/she does it. The only way to teach them is to let them actually do it with you.
