If you are a believer and can handle an ultimatum – you need 28 lemons in your life. This is a thing my parents discovered when they were very young. When I was 15 years old, I tried this ultimatum and I was quite successful. I was even better than my dad (his number was 4, mine was 5).
Benefits of lemons
KEEPING YOU HEALTHY. Vitamin C fights flu and cold, and lemons are rich in vitamin C. Take me as an example – I really enjoy lemon juices! And I never get sick!
WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY. Not only burning fat but really making you feel full much longer. For this purpose, it is best to drink it with warm water first thing in the morning.
CLEAN BLOOD VESSELS. Lemons are haters of cholesterol.
BEAUTIFUL SKIN. Because vitamin C (which fights against free radicals) – of course.
Society is coca-cola and sandwiches
There is a “healthy labelled” person in every friendship society. That one who avoids Saturday drinkings and restaurant treats when being on a specific diet. A freak making sandwiches with a whole wheat bread instead of simply buying something for lunch (this was the pregnant me when going to college classes). Seriously into healthy recipes books – that person is developing his/her own world.
As I go from face to face of every ordinary (or not) person on this planet, I realize everything different in people is giving bad headaches. Being healthy shouldn’t be that hard, but it is. All those advertisements for junk food and thoughts like “healthy are expensive” bother me a lot. Especially now when I am a mom.
I was being accused tons of time for sayings like “children should eat different food” or “organic milk is the only choice”. You know, I am a bad person for trying really hard to give my son the best of all things (because people don’t have money for that, and I rub it on their noses). But we don’t smoke (aren’t cigarettes expensive) and we don’t buy juices and junk treats. In fact, our little one hates juices with sugar. And I cook almost every day. It really saves money if you cook polenta and eat it with a nutritious meal, instead of buying a burger (which leaves your stomach full for only an hour).
Now don’t get me wrong, I am not that strict on the food. I enjoy unhealthy food from time to time, but it’s just not my lifestyle. Full of energy and without a fat body is my way of living.
7-day detox
It’s not a mistake. I really mean 28 lemons. Unless I did my counting wrong.
This is the plan: Day 1 – 1 lemon; Day 2 – 2 lemons; Day 3 – 3 lemons; Day 4 – 4 lemons; Day 5 – 5 lemons; Day 6 – 6 lemons; Day 7 – 7 lemons.
Just like that. On the first day you drink one full lemon, on the second day you drink two full lemons and so it goes to number seven. My husband and I were drinking them without water and in the morning. But you can add water if you like it better that way, and you can really drink it anytime.
I feel great!
Since I enjoy lemon juices so much, this wasn’t hard for me. Day 5 was a bit harder. I can’t tell why, but my husband felt it too. Lemons tasted great again!
My skin got better, and my workouts felt so easy! In fact, I feel great after this detox. The best thing is that I don’t crave junk food at all! We plan on doing it again after the 14-day pause.

I didn’t realize how beneficial lemons were to incorporate into your regular life! I’ll have to do this more, after reading all about it here. 🙂

I have always wanted to do detox but not sure how. By using only lemon, can you survive? Will it be too acidic? I love to cleanse my intestine and I know lemon is good cleansing ingredient. I hope the lemon help me detox all the dirty thing out so my body can work better by absorbing good nutrient.

Anything lemon makes me happy, so it makes me feel like I could do this! I’ll have to test it out, too. Thanks for the encouragement! 🙂

I have to give this a try. My skin has gone crazy the last month or so. I would have to have it with water because of my reflux.

This is so interesting, it sounds easy but I bet it’s not. I might give this a go I am all for trying new things especially if it would help my skin!

Lemons are amazing, they have so much benefits and they’re really good when mixed with water and some honey but of course you can opt not to add honey to the mix. I think it’s nice that this detox went well! I’d love to give it a try.

Yes, Lemons are perfect. We need more articles like this that showcase the benefits of having them. They also have practical uses outside of eating/drinking them!

I am inspired! Lemons are an amazing fruit – good for taste, but also great to neutralize and create an alkaline pH in your body. I’m off to get lemons for us all…now let’s see…28 lemons for 4 people . Whoa. That’s a lot of lemons! <3

This sounds like a great way to detox, I remember my sister did this in intervals starting few months before her marriage and I could see the difference. Thank you for reminding me, I am going to try this 🙂 good skin and better results with workout – yes please.

Interesting. I used to be really good about drinking a glass of lemon water to start my day each morning, but I never considered increasing it over the course of a week… Looks like I need to start this habit back up again and this time I think I’ll try it your way.

I used to always detox with lemon and felt so much better! I should do it again. Thanks for the reminder!

I want to try a detox and this one sounds easy enough. I don’t have anything against lemons. So it’s worth a try. I anticipate a horrible stomach ache even with water, lol. Did you juice your lemon or just squeeze it into a glass? I wonder how many I can get to?

I didn’t realize just how powerful drinking lemon juice could be! It’s hard to get lemons where I live now in Southeast Asia, but limes are everywhere. Do you think limes have the same benefit? If not, I’m visiting my parents this summer in California and they have a lemon tree in their yard, so I could give it a try then!

My rheumatologist recommended that I have lemon juice with hot water every morning and then also add lemon slices to my drinking water. Did you eat any food on the 7 days you had the lemons?
